Hi, I’m Franziska. I love cats, dogs, and squirrels. I think thunderstorms are the best kind of weather and could live off of chickpeas, avocado, and hazelnut butter. I love to eat and get excited deciding which new recipe by my favorite vegan chefs to try next, and of course, creating my own concoctions. I also write and couldn’t live without music. My all-time favorite TV show is Gilmore Girls. 

I dream of one day having a large kitchen with plenty of space to chop vegetables, fry tofu, and make pizza dough – unlike the kitchen in my apartment in Hamburg, Germany, which is crammed when there’s two people cooking and a cat demanding his next serving. I first started cooking as a teenager with the help of Maggi Fix. I’ve come a long way since then, but it definitely triggered my love for cooking my own yummy food. Also, getting to lick the spoon (what am I talking about – the whole bowl) when baking with my mom might have something to do with it.  

I went vegan sometime in 2009 and it’s amazing to see how easy it has become to be plant-based nowadays. I no longer have to ride the train for an hour to visit the one store that specialized in vegan cheese, chocolate, or even cookies. There’s vegan stuff in every tiny supermarket and waiters in restaurants know what ‘vegan’ means (well, for the most part).  Although I’m still waiting for people to stop asking, with a disdainful look on their face, ‘But what can you eat?!’. 

Well, this blog answers that question. I believe in the power of homemade meals that get your taste buds excited and are good for your body at the same time. I try to cook with whole foods for the most part, but not religiously so – sometimes, pizza just tastes best when it’s made of plain old white flour. On this blog, you’ll find both: healthy dinners and indulgent treats. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
