Vegan Snickers Smoothie

I like to start my days with a smoothie. It’s just so quick and convenient, plus I love a good smoothie. Most days, it will be this Blueberry Smoothie which I never, ever seem to tire of. But of course, you can’t drink blueberry smoothies day in and day out (or can you?), so I like to change things up every now and then. This vegan peanut butter and chocolate smoothie aka Snickers smoothie is perfect for such occasions. It also makes a great afternoon snack.

I love pretty much all things peanut butter (except eating it straight from the spoon, unlike other nut butters like hazelnut or almond, which is probably a good thing), and the combination of peanut butter and chocolate is a classic that needs no introduction.

In this recipe, PB and chocolate are paired with sweet dates, frozen banana, a tiny bit of rolled oats, and flaxseeds. Flaxseeds not only offer various health benefits and are great for your gut flora, they also make smoothies more satiating. If you don’t have flaxseeds, you change use chia seeds instead.


Vegan Snickers Smoothie

makes 2 250 ml servings

  • 2 cups oat milk or other plant-based milk of choice*
  • 2 tablespoons flaxseeds
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 4-6 medium dates (25 to 38 g)
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 tablespoon rolled oats

*Oat milk tends to be higher in sugar than other plant-based milks, so if you use a different kind, you might need to sweeten the smoothie a bit more, like using more dates


  1. Put all ingredients in a high-speed blender. Blend on high until smooth. This takes roughly 30 seconds in a Vitamix.
  2. Enjoy!
